It is apparent with the closing of 50 public schools and less than a year later voting for more charter schools that Chicago tax payers continue to be disrespected. The absurd decisions made in Illinois at large and Chicago in particular are and have been for many years motivated by kick back greed, personal power objectives and a disregard for Chicagoans. Follow the paper on the parking meters ... it leads to Abu Dhabi. Yeah.
No major building projects go forth unless Walsh builders controls them. They'll be building more charter schools. They low bid the job to win and then they repeated go back to the City Council for more money to "finish" the project.
The kids didn't do it, the parents didn't do it, the teachers didn't do it, The privately controlled school board systematically broke the schools so they could do exactly what they're doing now. For far too many years that board had one actual educator and the rest of the members had backgrounds in real estate. I stopped looking when Rahm took office, just too irritating to the digestive system. The Don stepped down but he still runs it, they eat breakfast together every morning. The list of reasons for why all these horrible decisions are made is long, but the truth of the matter is this..."they are building generational wealth!" The deals they make today with tax payers money have made them "super rich for now and 75 years!
